The upgrade replaces the bolt on cross slide encoder supplied in the M-DRO Myford digital readout kit with an imbedded magnetic tape and extension piece. Which frees up the left side of the cross slide and allows better access to the saddle locking bolt. This will involve tapping the cross slide with two M6 fixings and machining a slot 2mm deep by 10mm wide and 180-200mm in length.
