Mitutoyo Caliper Remains a Favourite in BBC One’s The Repair Shop

The Mitutoyo Standard Digital Caliper has been featured on BBC One’s The Repair Shop once again. It has been a popular choice for the craftspeople of the show and is clearly one to stay, being used for various restoration jobs in the barn including the latest, a heart-shaped locket.

In episode 29 of series nine, Richard works in miniature to tackle the tiny metal frame that was missing from an engagement locket. The owner brought the necklace to the repair shop in hopes of “mending a broken heart” that was gifted to her mother by her late father.

Richard used the caliper to measure the thickness of the pin that held the locket’s frame together—a crucial step in finding the right replacement. The Mitutoyo caliper was kept on hand to ensure complete accuracy, demonstrating that Mitutoyo delivers the precision needed in critical moments.

By the end of the programme, the locket was restored and returned to the owner with a photo of her parents in either side of the frame, becoming a cherished “family heirloom to treasure forever.”
